You will follow these procedures until you are able to complete the process without the need of instruction. Sevenia has a diploid chromosome with a number of four. During these activities you will demonstrate your understanding of cell division by identifying and drawing various stages of these events as well as answering questions about each. 1) Students will use template cards (printed on sheets and glued index cards) to create a flip-book that illustrates the steps in mitosis and meiosis 2) Students will decide whether to use mitosis or meiosis for their first flip-book. It is a process that only occurs during the formation of sex cells. Students you are going to study the process of meiosis by working with chromosomes from a mythical organism known as Sevenia.

Use the two documents linked below to complete an internet hands-on activity involving mitosis and meiosis. When you flip the flip book you should be able to see chromosomes moving slowly, centrioles moving and forming spindle fibres out of microtubules, parts of the cell appearing and disappearing and the cell splitting into 2 and finally 4 four haploid cells.
